Fondazione Marta Czok, based in Rome and Venice, is a non-profit organisation (NGO) dedicated to the creation of artistic and cultural projects in Italy and internationally. It is recognised by the National Register of the Third Sector (Italy) and is a member of World Art Foundations. The Foundation features an international team of experts from across different sectors, collaborating in the production of artistic, cultural and social engagement programmes, according to the objectives stipulated in our Mission Statement.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR / CEO With over forty years’ experience in the international art market, in the hospitality sector and in the production of cultural projects and events, Valter Scarso has coordinated the programming of Marta Czok’s exhibitions since the early 1980s, collaborating with public and private institutions both in Italy and internationally.
SENIOR CURATOR Jacek Ludwig Scarso (PhD) is Reader in Art & Performance at London Metropolitan University, where he directs the MA Public Art & Performative Practices, is Deputy Director of CREATURE (Research Centre in Creative Arts, Cultures and Engagement) and is University Teaching Fellow. As an artist, curator and academic, his projects have been presented worldwide, including Tate Modern, Museo Macro, the Science Museum and the British Council in Hong Kong.
ASSOCIATE CURATOR Anna Marazuela Kim (PhD) is an award-winning researcher, critic and international advisor for the arts and culture, based in London. Working across sectors, she advances projects, publications and debates on the vital role of the arts in civic thriving; art, monuments and conflict; beauty, sustainability and urban ecologies; and culture as a human right. Dr Kim is a member of ICOM and CIMAM, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (UK) and endorsed by the British Academy.
ASSOCIATE CURATOR Uros Gorgone is Founder and Art Director at Exibart Publishing Group, where he leads on the development of the brand and its programme of cultural and communication initiatives. He has extensive experience in the fields of contemporary art and communication, collaborating with major art organisations as well as brands such as Pepsi, Benetton and Fiat. He currently lives and works between Italy, Spain and Poland curating and contributing to international projects.
ADVISOR Cesare Biasini Selvaggi is an art curator and writer. Since March 2017, he has been Editorial Director of exibart.com, exibart.onpaper and exibart.tv. He is the author of critical texts and catalogues of modern and contemporary art, published by De Agostini, RCS Libri, Hachette, Mondadori, Electa, Skira, Silvana Editoriale, Carlo Cambi editore, De Luca editori d’arte, exibart.edizioni. He has curated and realised over 150 exhibitions both in Italy and internationally.
ADVISOR Luisa Bravo (PhD) operates globally in the context of the promotion of public space as a vehicle for a sustainable urban development. Founder and CEO of City Space Architecture, collaborating with UN-Habitat’s Global Public Space Programme, she is also the Curator of the Public Space Museum in Bologna and Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Public Space.
ADVISOR Sarah Carrington is a curator and cultural strategist with 20 years’ experience of developing and delivering ambitious cultural strategies, artist’s commissions, exhibitions and public programmes within galleries and in the public realm. Currently Head of Strategy and Partnerships at The Line, she is passionately committed to engaging new audiences in contemporary art through innovative thinking and collaborations.
ADVISOR Jonathan Thomson has over twenty years’ experience in the corporate sector, working as a Business Strategist, specialising in forecasting and asset acquisition. He has a particular interest in corporate sponsorships for the non-profit sector, working with Pride London, The International Lions and Rotary Clubs. He is also an advocate for DE&I in the workplace. A graduate in Cultural Studies, he furthered his training with an Advanced Certificate in Art Business at Christie’s, London.
ADVISOR Slawka G. Scarso is a Lecturer and Author of numerous publications, spanning communication and fiction. In the field of communication, she specialises in the areas of culture, food and wine. Having graduated at Università LUISS, she lectures in a range of masters, including Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, IUSVE in Venice, Università di Scienze Enogastronomiche in Bra and Università Cattolica di Milano. She is based in Milan and Rome.
CULTURAL COLLABORATOR Barbara Codogno was born in Padua, where she graduated in Aesthetic Philosophy. As a journalist, she writes, among several publications, for the cultural section of ‘Corriere del Veneto’. As an art critic and curator, she specialises in contemporary art with a particular focus on contemporary figuration. As an author, she has published numerous poems, short stories and fiction.
CULTURAL COLLABORATORS Jacqueline Jubert and Joseph Robson are the Directors, respectively, of Anise Gallery and of AVR London. Anise Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in London with a strong focus towards the architectural aesthetic. AVR London is a collective of artists, architects and researchers, specialising in architectural visualisation, illustration and VR experiences.
CULTURAL COLLABORATOR Mae Shummo is a British Sudanese multidisciplinary artist and curator. Having graduated with Distinction from the MA Public Art & Performative Practices at London Metropolitan University, she was recently commissioned with Now What Collective by Liliesleaf Trust UK, to explore the contemporary legacies of the international solidarity movement against apartheid. Mae’s wider research and practice focuses on global indigenous cultural production and curatorial practices.
CULTURAL COLLABORATOR Marina is an interdisciplinary artist and curator born in Venice, residing in the UK. As an associate member of the Tate Exchange Liverpool she has produced and curated several interactive and inclusive public art projects. Main focus of her work are themes such as migration, displacement, transnationalism, feminism, identity. Marina’s work has been shown internationally. She is an associate artist of MK Gallery and is the recipients of several ACE grants for the arts.
TECHNICAL CONSULTANT Prof. Giulio Maggiore graduated in Economy in Rome and has worked as Chartered Accountant since 1989, as Professor in Business Economics, as Auditor and Technical Consultant for the Tribunal of Velletri (Rome). He has been Partner in the Accounting Firm S.M.I Studio Commerciale Associato Maggiore e Iamotti, Via Appia Nuova, Rome, since 1990. He works in fiscal and commercial management, in employment law and in the Third Sector.
TECHNICAL COLLABORATOR Domenico Drogheo graduated in Law at Università La Sapienza and became a licensed attorney at the Corte di Appello, Rome. He directs a law firm in Albano Laziale (Rome). He operates his legal practice primarily in support of organisations and companies, alongside his experience in contractual matters.
TECHNICAL COLLABORATOR Lucia Miarelli graduated in Architecture and directed two art galleries in Rome. She has worked with Marta Czok for several years, specialising in the realisation and curation of limited editions of fine art prints, coordinating Marta Czok Store, as well as working on its customer relations.
TECHNICAL COLLABORATOR Renato Morbiato lives in Padua. Since 1978, he worked as Surveyor for the City Council of Venice specialising in State Property, and was awarded the honorary title of Cavaliere dall’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana for his work in the city. He continues to work as consultant for Venice’s State Property, as well as being active in the voluntary sector for the third age.
TECHNICAL COLLABORATOR Born in Rome, Francesca Costantini is a Notary Public who graduated at Università La Sapienza with highest honours. She became a solicitor and then a notary, basing her practice in Albano Laziale, Rome, since 2017. She is dedicated to her work as notary, in its important function of facilitating the expression of legal will in society. She has a particular interest in art, across different forms, as a source of reflection and inspiration.
